Achieve Soft Skin This Summer

As summer has now arrived, so has the warmer weather (...or at least we like to hope so!). Naturally, our wardrobes tend to show off more skin during this season than any other. At The Yorkshire Soap Company we encourage people to take pride in their skin, keeping it healthy and touchably soft. Below we share with you some of our tips to achieve the softest summer skin:



Exfoliating is one of the most important steps in achieving soft skin. It helps to remove dirt, oils, and dead skin. It is recommended to exfoliate about once per week or more if you like, but be sure not to overdo it. Too much exfoliation can make skin drier and irritated. For more luxurious results, try our gentle cold processed extruded Botanical Soap Bars, suitable for exfoliating;

  1. Exfoliating Almond: helps to naturally buff skin with crushed pieces of walnut shell

  2. Gardeners Herb: a rougher soap, that works ideally for those of you who have very rough skin on hands and feet. Packed with a variety of botanicals including oats, poppy seeds, heather, and comfrey.



When showering or soaking in a bath, avoid HOT water as it strips your skin of natural oils, making it become dry and flaky. Using warm water will help your skin lock in moisture, and encourage skin to absorb healthy minerals.



For those of you who like to relax and soak in luxury, bath salts have been known to help improve skin radiance, tone and texture. The minerals found in bath salts aid in this process, especially our Yorkshire Soap Bath Salts which are made with the healing salts of the Dead Sea. They’re packed to the brim with detoxifying minerals and you can use as much or a little as you like (we recommend at least a level cap full).



  1. Moisturising your skin is very important in helping it feel smooth. Our natural glycerine soaps (ie: glycerine bars, patisserie soaps, etc) help to keep moisture attracted to your skin. Glycerine is a humectant, which means it attracts and retains moisture, helping to prevent dryness.

  2. Body creams and lotions also help add moisture and keep it in the skin. These products should be applied within a few moments after showering to lock in the most moisture right away. Our range of Body Lotions (and Body Fuel) are all made with Sweet Almond Oil, naturally rich in vitamin E and a number of other minerals and vitamins.

  3. Bath oils, such as our Bath Truffles (a solid bath oil) which are made with cocoa butter and sweet almond oil, melt into bath water and help nourish skin while you soak and relax. Alternatively, you can apply a body oil once you finish bathing.



  1. Hydrate - Keep your body and skin hydrated by drinking water throughout the day. It has been recommended to drink between 8-10 glasses (approximately 4 pints) per day; spread evenly throughout the day.

  2. Healthy Eating - Some sources have suggested that our diets impact the state of our skin. Trying to eliminate or reduce greasy foods, fast food, and sugars among other items is said to encourage healthy, glowing skin.

  3. Sun Protection - Exposure to the sun and harmful rays can wreak havoc on our skin if not protected, creating sunspots (dark spots), premature ageing, or even leading to skin cancer. It is always advised and recommended to protect your skin with an SPF.
